She has also served as the Ombudsman for the University of Michigan and co-taught courses there in the School of Public Health and the College of Literature, Science and the Arts. At Smith she was instrumental in leading college-wide initiatives that promote inter-departmental collaboration, multi-cultural literacy and dialogue, and integrative learning. She also served as interim director of the Office of Institutional Diversity and the Center for Community Collaboration.
